SDEC and Baudouin engines form the core power generation backbone for critical infrastructure across South Africa, including data centres, hospitals, and major cold-storage facilities. Using uncertified alternative copy fuel pumps on these platforms risks catastrophic starting failures and expensive building blackouts.

The internal tolerances between the pump plungers and their barrels are measured in microns. If tiny dust particles or water bypass low-quality fuel filters, they enter the pump housing and scratch these polished steel surfaces. This scratch allows high-pressure fuel to leak backward, causing an immediate drop in delivery pressure.

On older non-electronic blocks, the mechanical governor uses a set of internal flyweights tied to the pump control rack. As load changes shift engine speed, the weights move physically to adjust fuel volume. On modern units, this mechanical arrangement is completely replaced by high-speed electronic actuators driven by digital speed controllers.
