OUR TIMELINE

Shanghai New Power Automotive Technology Company Limited. (formerly known as Shanghai Diesel Engine Co., Ltd.) is a leading manufacturer of diesel engines, with more than 1800 employees responsible for the design and manufacturing of diesel engines, engine parts, and generator sets. Our diesel and natural gas engines span several different series, including M, R, H, D, C, E, G, K, W, and more to serve every conceivable customer need. Typical engine power ranges between 50 to 2200kW.

1947

In 1947, the original Wusong Works organization was established.

1953

In 1953, the company's name was changed to Shanghai Diesel Engine Factory.

1993

In 1993, Shanghai Diesel Engine Factory was restructured into Shanghai Diesel Engine Co, Ltd.

2017

In 2017, our 70th anniversary event witnessed the 1,700,000th engine coming off the production line.

2019

SDEC is a state-owned diesel engine manufacturing company wholly owned by SAIC Motor (Shanghai Automotive Industry Co).

2022

Our company’s name was changed from SHANGHAI DIESEL ENGINE COMPANY LIMITED to Shanghai New Power Automotive Technology Company Limited.
